A PAIR OF REGENCY SIMULATED ROSEWOOD AND PARCEL GILT ARMCHAIRS BY JOHN GEE, CIRCA 1815 Stamped JG to the front seat rails, with journeyman's stamps IL and SC, with button squab seat cushions 82.5cm high, 53.5cm wide, 50cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratches, chips and abrasions commensurate with age and use. There are some signs of old worm. The painted decoration and parcel gilt is probably later or touched up, with some wear and flaking, some places to the arms worn to reveal the underlying beech timber. The striped woven squab cushion fabric with dark piped borders and dark buttons to one side, there are some marks. The caning is of some age but probably not original, it is intact. The journeyman's marks are indistinct, though the JG marks are clear. A well designed pair of Regency elbow chairs in useable state.
