This pair of circular earthenware plates was produced by Wedgwood at the Etruria works in England. The plates feature monochrome transfer-printed designs in dark sepia representing the seasons of Spring and Autumn in a style reminiscent of medieval woodcuts. The Spring plate displays a central medallion of a figure surrounded by a wreath of spring flora including primroses and catkins, with a ribbon banner labeled Spring. The Autumn plate shows a figure harvesting, framed by a wreath of oak leaves, acorns, and berries, with a banner labeled Autumn. Both plates have scalloped rims decorated with a coordinating botanical border and a thin black line at the extreme edge. The reverse of each plate is marked with a black printed backstamp reading WEDGWOOD / ETRURIA ENGLAND, and a stamped WEDGWOOD mark. Remnants of a Rubin Collection sticker and a dealer tag are present on the underside. Dimensions: 1.00"H x 10.00" dia. Dimensions: 1.00"H x 10.00" dia.
