A Japanese six-panel byōbu folding screen painted on silver leaf with traces of gilding, depicting an arrangement of autumn grasses and flowers extending horizontally across the lower part of the composition. Tall susuki grasses dominate the central section, accompanied by chrysanthemums and other seasonal plants growing along the ground. Three birds animate the scene, all depicted in flight above the grasses. The broad silver-leaf ground, naturally oxidised and displaying subtle variations in tone, occupies much of the composition and provides a luminous backdrop to the vegetation. The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider. Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings. --- The byobu is in good condition with natural oxidation to the silver leaf, minor restorations and slight losses. The paper is slightly wavy. Wear to the lacquered frame. Please refer to the pictures for further details. The item will be carefully packed and shipped accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy. 955
