A superb 14-carat gold Elgin pocket watch, the movement bearing serial number 540545 and dating from circa 1893-1894. Housed in a quality 14-carat gold case by the Joseph Muhr Watch Case Company, the case bearing its own serial number 244643. A fine example of late 19th century American watchmaking, combining quality craftsmanship with elegant period styling. The watch appears to be in working order at the time of cataloguing, although no guarantee can be given as to its continued accuracy or performance. A highly desirable collector's timepiece of both horological and investment interest. Weighs 46 grams approx.
