A Victorian 14k yellow gold ruby pearl and diamond snake necklace. Flexible serpent necklace composed of moulded repoussé links. Finely chased serpent’s head with open jaws, set with a row of small ruby cabochons, flanked at the sides by rows of pearls, with two rose-cut diamonds for the eyes. Hallmarks: Modern Dutch import marks for gold of 585 fineness. Two pearls missing. Length 42.0 cm. Weight 27.01 g. England, c. 1840 - 50.
