Faux tortoiseshell case, so-called “faux tortoise”, with rich engraved brass mounts. Interior fitted with a writing slope covered in purple velvet, an inkwell and compartments. Lock plate with maker’s mark. Length 35.5, width 26–40, height 11 cm.
