Abstract #69 | Hidden Currents - Pinar Akbaba

Abstract #69 | Hidden Currents by Pinar Akbaba Painting 37.0 x 28.0 :: Hidden Currents explores the constant movement that exists beneath the visible surface. Layers of deep blue green violet pink and warm orange unfold across the canvas forming an ever-changing network of shapes gestures and translucent passages. Nothing remains completely fixed; forms emerge overlap and dissolve creating a sense of movement that continues from one area of the composition to another. Rather than presenting a defined image the painting invites the eye to wander through its shifting layers. Organic shapes suggest fragments of something familiar without fully revealing what they might be allowing recognition and abstraction to exist side by side. The work reflects Pinar Akbaba’s intuitive approach to painting in which color gesture and structure develop through an open-ended process. The result is a visual field where energy is constantly building receding and reappearing. Hidden Currents invites the viewer to look beyond the immediate image and discover the quieter movement beneath it. Original acrylic painting on canvas created in 2025.
