As a remarkable achievement in philology, Adriaan Kluit, a leading classical scholar and jurist, and Matthaeus Dousa employed a source-critical method revolutionary for their time. Together they produced this comprehensive, annotated collection of political and legal documents to reconstruct the development of the counties of Holland and Zeeland. The work contains a substantial series of fully published charters and source texts, with Dousa providing the extensive annotations. In this way they uncovered the legal foundations and administrative growth of the Northern Netherlands, making this an indispensable standard work for the study of early constitutional law and medieval power structures To be sent by registered mail
