Adrien-Marie Legendre - Éléments de Géométrie, avec des notes - 1823

Exciting illustrated edition of 14 folding plates and augmented by the famous geometry treatise by Adrien-Marie Legendre, designed to offer a rigorous, clear, and progressive exposition of the fundamental principles of Euclidean geometry - The work systematically presents the essential notions of the discipline, beginning with the definitions of points, lines, angles, and plane figures, then developing the properties of triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, and solids - Legendre strives to demonstrate the theorems in a logical and orderly fashion, seeking to simplify and make more accessible the sometimes complex rigor of Euclid's Elements. The treatise emphasizes the demonstrative method, based on precise deductive reasoning, and constitutes a model of pedagogical clarity intended for secondary and higher education - The notes added in this 1823 edition provide additional clarifications, supplementary demonstrations, and sometimes historical or methodological remarks allowing a better understanding of the construction of geometric reasoning - Adrien-Marie Legendre - Elements of Geometry, with notes - 1823 - Firmin Didot, père et fils - 431 Pages. Good condition of the binding, the work in its original red half-basane, stains and signs of use, some minor defects on the cover, worn corners, speckled edges, smooth spine adorned with cold tooling, gilded lettering - Good interior condition, browning and stains, edges of plates gnawed, a beautiful vignette on the title page, work enriched with 14 folding plates, title page in decent condition, pleasant copy - Delivery service guaranteed within a few days –
