Artist and designer Æ holds a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Design and Multimedia Technologies (Barcelona, 2004) and a Bachelor's Degree in East Asian Studies. He has been creating and experimenting since an early age with the visual language of 1980s computer graphics, developing his own aesthetic influenced by minimalism, conceptual art, East Asian visual culture and skateboard graphics. His artworks can now be found in private collections in more than 30 countries around the world, from the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy to Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Collectors appreciate the distinctive and immediately recognizable character of Æ’s work. Æ's artwork is characterized by a spare, high-contrast visual language, using a limited palette and carefully selected imagery to convey complex emotions and ideas. Stark black-and-white compositions emphasize the contrast between light and darkness, order and chaos, nostalgia and visions of the future. In this diptych, the explosive universe of AKIRA is transformed into two distressed visions of Neo-Tokyo. Kaneda, his iconic motorcycle, monumental futuristic architecture and dense Japanese typography emerge through heavy halftones, weathered textures and analog imperfections. The compositions evoke forgotten 1980s Japanese underground publications, combining cyberpunk imagery with the raw character of vintage offset printing, photocopied zines and experimental manga editorial design. The two works form a complementary pair: one presents Neo-Tokyo as a vast dystopian landscape, while the other plunges the viewer into its dense, chaotic streets. Together they create a tribute to the visual power and enduring influence of AKIRA and Japanese cyberpunk culture.
