JIJI — TALES FROM DISTANT PLACES Inspired by the warmth, mystery and quiet beauty of Studio Ghibli’s animated worlds, this triptych follows Jiji through three intimate scenes filled with nostalgia and wonder. I. THE MIDNIGHT VISITOR Jiji peeks over a traditional wooden table inside a softly illuminated Japanese home. Shoji screens, cherry blossoms and delicate everyday objects create an atmosphere of curiosity and gentle mystery. II. MIDNIGHT RAMEN Under the warm glow of a traditional Japanese paper lantern, Jiji discovers a bowl of ramen in a cozy Japanese interior. The composition celebrates simple pleasures, playful curiosity and the comforting rituals of everyday life. III. PARISIAN DREAMS Jiji rests upon the rooftops of Paris, surrounded by cherry blossoms and illuminated windows, with the Eiffel Tower rising in the distance. A poetic encounter between Japanese imagination and European romanticism. Together, the three artworks create a visual journey exploring curiosity, comfort and the magic of distant places. JAPANESE PRINTMAKING & ANIMATION AESTHETICS Æ2381 reimagines Jiji through the visual language of Japanese woodblock prints, vintage illustrated books and traditional manga publications. Intricate cross-hatching, halftone textures, distressed printing and dramatic monochrome contrasts create the appearance of rare illustrations recovered from a forgotten Japanese storybook. The compositions combine whimsical storytelling with architectural details, delicate botanical elements and the timeless appeal of black-and-white printmaking.
