Æ (Spain, b. 1977) Jiji — Emblems of Fortune Rare Limited Edition Triptych (Set of 3) · 2026 Symbolic guardians. Graphic clarity. Quiet good fortune. This monochrome triptych presents Jiji, the iconic black cat, interpreted through a refined visual language inspired by vintage Japanese woodblock prints, traditional emblems, and classic stamp-like compositions. Across the three panels, Jiji appears as both protective figure and symbolic presence, surrounded by motifs associated with luck, perseverance, and harmony. The compositions draw upon the balanced structure of historical Japanese graphic design, where ornamental framing and symbolic elements create a timeless visual rhythm. Waves, architectural references, and decorative forms evoke a contemplative atmosphere that merges folklore with minimalist modern sensibility. Rendered in deep black and warm ivory tones, the works recall mezzotint engraving textures, early printmaking surfaces, and archival illustration aesthetics. The restrained palette enhances the sense of stillness and symbolic clarity, reinforcing the collectible character of the series. Each panel functions both independently and as part of a cohesive triptych, establishing a harmonious dialogue between figure, space, and emblematic imagery. Together, the three works create a visual meditation on protection, balance, and quiet optimism. Each artwork is individually hand-finished using mixed media techniques, producing subtle tonal and textural variations while preserving strong visual unity across the set. This is not a reproduction or printed poster, but a hand-crafted mixed-media artwork created for collectors of contemporary graphic art, Japanese-inspired symbolism, and monochrome visual narratives.
