AFRICAN AIRMAILS 18th Nov 1935 the Imperial Airways 'City...

AFRICAN AIRMAILS 18th Nov 1935 the Imperial Airways 'City of Jodhpur' De Haviland 'Hercules' bi-plane left London for South Africa. This southbound flight, carrying mail only, lost its propeller and made a forced landing in a swamp ten miles North West of Entebbe. The rescuers had to go in by canoe for three miles, and then had to struggle waist deep through the swamp for two hours. The mail was recovered and it reached Entebbe at 8pm the same day. It was checked and then dispatched by road to Kampala. No special markings were applied. This cover from London to Bulawayo, Rhodesia, arrived in Bulawayo on 26th Nov. A very rare cover from this air crash.
