All auctions / Ethnographical / African Art: Durand-Barrère Collection — PIASA Auction Catalogue (Paris
This lot concerns a rare, high-quality ethnographic auction catalog from the renowned French auction house PIASA. The catalog is devoted to the prestigious private collection "Collection Durand-Barrère," which was auctioned at Hotel Drouot-Richelieu in Paris. The publication contains 98 pages and describes 73 carefully selected top pieces from traditional African art. Each lot is accompanied by an in-depth French description and beautiful, full-page color images of superb quality. The expertise behind this iconic auction lay in the hands of the globally respected tribal art experts Pierre Amrouche and Alain de Monbrison. This makes the work an indispensable reference document for collectors, dealers, and art historians. Cross-References & Context The objects shown and the scholarly approach in this catalog align seamlessly with leading literature and museum collections. It forms a direct cross-reference with standard works such as: The Tribal Arts of Africa by Jean-Baptiste Bacquart. Publications of the famous Barbier-Mueller Collection. Monographs from the renowned Visions of Africa series (e.g., on Baga art). Condition & Photography Condition: Mint condition / deadstock. The book is in absolute near-new condition, unread and fresh. It exudes the authentic, characterful scent of a quality printing house. The photographs in this auction catalog have been taken with the utmost care at an angle of less than 90 degrees. This was done deliberately to fully protect the integrity of the spine and binding. Notes for the Bidder In this and upcoming auctions, many high-quality ethnographic publications will be offered. Consider, for example, specialized works on Oceania, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Africa. This is a unique opportunity to build or expand a specialized art-historical library. Shipping will be carried out with reliable Track & Trace. When purchasing multiple lots I apply, where relevant, a fair adjustment to shipping costs, appropriate to the total volume and insured value. Possibly personal pickup is available in The Hague, Benoordehout (postal code 2596GN).
