Like in so many of his paintings the light is the most essential rather than the details. The expression in this painting is more sensitive than his other more dramatique landscapes paintings and you can observe his delicate but broad brushstrokes showed in the grass. It seems almost to be an early attempt of this new way of painting that made him so famous and unique at the time.
