AINSWORTH (Maryan W.). Petrus Christus. Renaissance Master of Bruges. New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, [1994]. Large in-4, publisher’s red illustrated cardboard binding. A major monograph on Petrus Christus by Maryan W. Ainsworth, with contributions by Maximiliaan P. J. Martens. It examines the painter’s body of work, his technique, and his place in the Bruges art scene, particularly in relation to the legacy of Jan van Eyck. The analyses are also based on technical examinations of the works: underdrawings, X-rays, and painting techniques. Extensive color and black-and-white illustrations, including numerous full-page reproductions and details. Some scuffing and signs of wear on the dust jacket, a small mark on the front cover; interior in very good condition.
