Albion 2004 El Dorado - Rare Collection - AN - b. 2018 - 70cl

El Dorado Rare Collection – Albion AN 2004 – 14 Years – Cask Strength 60.1% – 70 cl A very fine bottle from the prestigious El Dorado Rare Collection, dedicated to the historic rum marques of Demerara, Guyana. This Albion AN was distilled in 2004 by Demerara Distillers Ltd. at Diamond, then matured for approximately 14 years in the tropical climate of Guyana, in ex-bourbon casks. It was bottled in 2018 at 60.1% ABV, Cask Strength, as a limited edition. The particular interest of this bottle lies in the AN – Albion marque, which refers to the former Albion distillery, one of the historic names of Demerara rum. The original Albion distillery closed in the late 1960s, and this expression was therefore produced at Diamond, preserving the style associated with this historic marque. The Rare Collection was created by El Dorado to showcase these individual historic Demerara profiles in more distinctive, limited and powerful expressions than the standard range. At 60.1% ABV, the Albion 2004 offers a particularly rich and concentrated profile, with notes of molasses, dark caramel, dark and dried fruits, dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice, spices, vanilla and oak, together with the long, intense finish typical of mature tropical-aged Demerara rum. A highly regarded expression among Demerara enthusiasts and now increasingly difficult to find. It combines several characteristics particularly sought after by collectors: 2004 vintage, historic Albion AN marque, long tropical maturation, limited release and Cask Strength bottling.
