The 9091 Alessi kettle, designed by Richard Sapper for Alessi, in 1983, is the company's first designer kettle and a true icon of international design. Richard Sapper created this kettle drawing inspiration from a childhood memory related to the sounds of the Reno River. Today the 9091 model is exhibited in the world's leading museums, including the permanent collection of Milano's Triennale Design Museum and the Museo Omero. The kettle is made of brass, and consists of two sound tubes that intonate a precise melody with the notes "Mi" and "Si" when the water reaches boiling, replacing the classic shrill whistle. The bulging body is made of polished 18/10 stainless steel, while the molded handle is in thermosetting black plastic.
