All auctions / Contemporary Art / Alessio Mazzarulli - Children should play - 02 (n.654) - No War series
Artwork n.654 Dimensions: 85,00 x 85,00 (cm) I create paintings using acrylic paints and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper becomes art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the last works realized. Children should play and not experience the horrors of war... *** This work is unique and original. Each work is safely packaged, wrapped and protected for shipment worldwide, with the Certificate of Authenticity included. A shipping tracking number is provided. This piece will be shipped without a frame or canvas frame as the work will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the larger surface will be useful and necessary to tension the canvas on a frame. It is advisable to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise you on an eventual suitable frame. Images showing the work in interior spaces are for illustration purposes only and proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description. Different light sources can give different colors to the photos. For more photos and information, contact me! Thank you. *** IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS (NON-EU): Customs duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price nor in the shipping costs. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork value. Born in 1974 I am self-taught. After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a long stop lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I returned to the “two dimensions” for reasons of time and space, neglecting sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me painting is about "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and fungi that – over time – grow on the surface. Time, which passes inexorably, is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceivable by touch as well as to the eye. Recently, after several years in which my works were made from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and repeated grids with mathematical rigor that viewed up close seem to form a colorful abstract painting but the closer you get, the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden discs. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce women's faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report the fact that they are not their partner’s dolls and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence. *** Below are the recent exhibitions: Solo: 2017 Solo exhibition / Maison des Arts - Pescara, Italy Group shows: Naarden The Art Fair / Amsterdam - Naarden, Netherlands 2026 Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam / De Kromhouthal, Gedempt Hamerkanaal 231, 1021 KP Amsterdam, Netherlands - Amsterdam, Netherlands 2025 X Edition of MumArt “Homage to Costantino Barbella” / Museo Michetti - Francavilla al Mare, Italy 2020 Andy Warhol And Friends / Galleria D'arte Art Events Mazzoleni - Alzano Lombardo (BG), Italy 2019 “The Freedom in Visual Arts – Second Edition” / Mumi - Museo Michetti - Francavilla al Mare (CH), Italy 2019 Internationale Art Price - Tamara De Lempika / Milano Art Gallery - Milan, Italy 2018 Archipelago #2 / Galeri Sveva - Stockholm, Sweden 2018 Dialog Between Generations / Castel dell'Ovo - Naples, Italy 2018 The Magical Shades of Time / Aurum Arts - Pescara, Italy 2017 In obstinate and contrary direction / Simultánea Spazi Arte - Florence, Italy 2017 World Wide Art Show – New York 2017 / 508/526 West 26th Street, Suite 315, New York, NY 10001 - New York, United States 2017 The freedom in visual arts / Museo Michetti - Francavilla al Mare, Italy 2016 Introspective Shades / Arte Borgo Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Caput Mundi Arte / Palazzo Ferrajoli - Rome, Italy 2016 Art Salerno 2016 / Palazzo Fruscione - Salerno, Italy 2016 Art Rome / Flyer Art Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Weavings of the Artist / Merlino Bottega d'Arte Gallery - Florence, Italy 2015
