Alessio Mazzarulli - Don't you see that face? (n.566) - Dolls series

Artwork no.566 Dimensions: 86.00 x 100.00 (cm) I create paintings using acrylic paints and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper becomes art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have created. "Not your doll" - "Not my doll" is a series where I intend to represent female faces with features reminiscent of the most classic dolls, and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, I am your doll and you can do with me what you want" with all that lies behind it, which unfortunately leads to violence. *** This work is unique and original. Each work is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for shipment worldwide, with the Certificate of Authenticity included. I use the courier provided directly by Catawiki and a tracking number will be provided for the shipment. This piece will be shipped without a frame or stretcher, as it will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the extra surface is useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame. It is advisable to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on an appropriate frame if desired. The images showing the work in interior settings are for illustrative purposes only and the proportions may appear different. The actual dimensions are those indicated in the description. Different light sources can render different colors in the photos. For additional photos and information, please contact me! Thank you. *** IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS (NON-EU): Customs duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork’s value. Born in 1974 I am self-t taught. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I have returned with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, neglecting sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me, painting is "blocking time" at that exact moment; my painting is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are street walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that—over time—grow on the surface. Time passing inexorably is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceptible both by touch and to the naked eye. In this recent period, after several years during which my works were made from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that, when viewed up close, seem to form a colorful abstract painting, but the more you move away, the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden disks. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce the faces of women, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence. *** Below are the recent exhibitions: Solo shows: 2017 Solo exhibition / Maison des Arts - Pescara, Italy Group shows: Naarden The Art Fair / Amsterdam - Naarden, Netherlands 2026 Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam / De Kromhouthal, Gedempt Hamerkanaal 231, 1021 KP Amsterdam, Netherlands - Amsterdam, Netherlands 2025 X Edition of MumArt “Homage to Costantino Barbella” / Museo Michetti - Francavilla al Mare, Italy 2020 Andy Warhol And Friends / Galleria D'arte Art Events Mazzoleni - Alzano Lombardo (BG), Italy 2019 “The Freedom in Visual Arts – Second Edition” / Mumi - Museo Michetti - Francavilla Al Mare (CH), Italy 2019 Internationale Art Price - Tamara De Lempika / Milano Art Gallery - Milan, Italy 2018 Archipelago #2 / Galeri Sveva - Stockholm, Sweden 2018 Dialogo Tra Generazioni / Castel dell'Ovo - Naples, Italy 2018 The Magical Hues of Time / Aurum Arts - Pescara, Italy 2017 In obstinate and contrary direction / Simultánea Spazi Arte - Florence, Italy 2017 World Wide Art Show – New York 2017 / 508/526 West 26th Street, Suite 315, New York, NY 10001 - New York, USA 2017 La libertà nelle arti visive / Museo Michetti - Francavilla Al Mare, Italy 2016 Introspective Hues / Arte Borgo Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Caput Mundi Art / Palazzo Ferrajoli - Rome, Italy 2016 Arte Salerno 2016 / Palazzo Fruscione - Salerno, Italy 2016 Art Rome / Flyer Art Gallery - Rome, Italy 2016 Trame D'artista / Merlino Bottega d'Arte Gallery - Florence, Italy 2015
