We present to you a superb antique work on paper dating from the early 20th century, depicting a woman standing, viewed in profile, wearing a long dress and leaning on the back of a chair, by Alexis de Broca (1868-1948) Title: Portrait of a Woman in Profile. Artist: Alexis de Broca (1868-1948) Technique: Pastel, gouache and charcoal on paper Signed in pencil at the bottom left. Artwork size: 48 cm x 25 cm. Total with the frame: 55.7 cm x 32 cm. Condition: Good. Conservation status: some small wear and marks on the paper. (see photos). Alexis de Broca (1868-1948) was a French painter, draftsman and watercolorist, known for being the grandfather of film director Philippe de Broca. Trained at the Beaux-Arts, he split his career between Brittany and numerous trips to North Africa, from which he brought back Orientalist works and colonial scenes. He also stood out as a press illustrator in Nantes and created famous advertising drawings for the LU brand.
