Alfred Corbould (1821–1875) - Fantino con cavallo

Alfred Corbould (1821–1875) “ Fantino con cavallo “ Oil on cardboard Measurements: 78 x 68 cm in frame Painting: 60 x 50 cm Period: 1871 Historical-artistic description Elegant equestrian subject composition by Alfred Corbould, English painter of the 19th century, depicting a bay horse in motion, accompanied by a male figure identifiable as a jockey. The animal, absolute protagonist of the scene, is rendered with particular attention to the anatomical structure, the shine of the coat, and the naturalness of movement. The tree-lined landscape, characterized by a palette of greens and browns and by delicate atmospheric luminosity, constitutes a balanced scenographic backdrop. The work fits into the tradition of British equestrian painting of the 19th century, particularly appreciated by aristocratic clientele and by milieus linked to racing. Signature: Bottom right, «Corbould». Frame: An important gilded frame in 19th-century taste, richly decorated with floral and ornamental relief motifs. Condition: a superficial patina and some signs of time, compatible with the proposed period, are detectable. *** Note fotografica Some photographic images of the work were taken with professional studio lighting and spotlights to allow better legibility of the composition, details and the painting material. This lighting may cause slight variations in color perception and brightness compared with viewing the work directly. The photographs are for illustrative and documentary purposes only. The frame is supplied free of charge as a gift with the work and should therefore be considered an accessory element, not included in the economic valuation of the painting. Due to the natural fragility of old and gilded frames, any damage, detachment, breaks or losses of parts of the frame occurring during transport or shipping cannot be the subject of refund, compensation or dispute regarding the value of the work. Packaging will, however, be prepared with the utmost care to ensure, as far as possible, safe transport. Insured shipping and sales document attest to legitimate provenance.
