Alfredo Grimaldi (1950) - La terrazza nei giorni estivi

A flowering terrace opens onto a coastal village tucked between the sea and the mountains. On the left edge, a pale wall crisscrossed with branches and purple and pink blooms introduces the view; below, a terracotta pot with red flowers and a field of fuchsia corollas create a bright and welcoming foreground. These elements bring the observer closer to the landscape, suggesting an intimate and sheltered viewpoint. Beyond the parapet, the white, cream and rose-hued buildings line the shore, interrupted by dark openings and patches of vegetation. The mountains recede through green and purplish tones, while the sea stretches into broad bands of blue and azure. Small white sails mark the distance and introduce a gentle presence in the breadth of the bay. The composition alternates the richness of nearby details with the simplicity of the marine space. The brightness of the houses and the intensity of the flowers render a joyful vision of the Mediterranean landscape, like a moment of everyday beauty kept between the garden and the horizon.
