ALLOCCHIO BACCHINI 425 (1955) – A RARE JEWEL OF ITALIAN DESIGN Offered in an elegant panna-bakelite version, this Allocchio Bacchini 425 represents one of the most fascinating and visionary radios of its era. A object that seems to have come from the future imagined in the postwar period: modern lines, refined technical solutions, and an aesthetic that remains surprisingly contemporary today. Its most iconic element is the extraordinary steerable speaking scale, orientable and tilt-adjustable, made with double backlit serigraphic glass, finished with an elegant gilded frame. A detail of great charm that makes this model unique in the landscape of Italian radio design. Completing the ensemble are the refined leather top handle and the grille-like structure, as scenographic as it is delicate. Precisely because of the fragility of this construction, the model was produced in very few units and today very few remain intact. The offered specimen is complete, original and without missing parts. It shows only some very slight signs of time, absolutely coherent with its more than seventy years of history, which enhance its authenticity and vintage charm. More than a simple radio, it is a true icon of Italian design, perfect for furnishing refined interiors, professional studios, showrooms, or to embellish a high-end collection. A rare, sought-after piece and hard to find in these conditions. Technical specifications of the radio: • Brand: Allocchio Bacchini • Model: 425 • Made in: Italy - Milan • Year of manufacture: 1955 • Bands: Medium waves (MW) and more than 2 shortwave bands (> 2 x SW) • Dimensions (L x H x D): 24.5 x 15 x 13 cm • Operating voltages: 110; 125; 140; 160; 220 Volts ⸻ Informative note: The case presents some very slight signs of time, almost imperceptible, largely hidden by the speaking scale (see photo). Details absolutely coherent with the age and with the particular constructive fragility of this model: many units have been lost over time, while this radio has remained intact, complete and with all its original parts. Overall, the appliance retains a very pleasant appearance and preserves its original charm. This is an original vintage radio device, offered as a collectible and display item, in keeping with its historical nature. Being a device made several decades ago, it does not meet current electrical safety standards applicable to newly marketed products. The appliance has not undergone technical revision according to contemporary regulations. Before any use connected to the mains, a check and safety measures by qualified personnel is recommended. The radio powers on. It was not possible to test reception of stations, as transmissions on short, medium and long waves are no longer widely broadcast in most areas. Powering on does not constitute a guarantee of full operation nor a certification of conformity to current electrical safety standards. We invite you to carefully view the description and images, which form an integral part of the listing.
