Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) is one of the undisputed masters of Art Nouveau and a fundamental figure in the history of decorative modern art. His immediately recognizable style, characterized by elegant female figures, flowing lines, ornamental halos and rich botanical motifs, has become synonymous with fin-de-siècle Paris and the rise of graphic art as a consolidated discipline. Mucha's works enjoy lasting international demand, with high prices for posters, lithographs and decorative panels, which appeal just as much to fine art lovers, design enthusiasts and interior stylists. From 1896, after the great success of his posters, Mucha was invited by the printer F. Champenois, with whom he had closely collaborated, to produce so-called Panneaux décoratifs.
