altar figurine - Adan Ada - Ghana

Statuette, Adan culture, Ghana. Height 35 cm. Beautiful Adan statuette from Ghana. The figure has a strong presence, the body is taut, the figure seems awake, the head forward, on the lookout. The face is captivating, the gaze is determined and bright. The mouth, slightly open, was nourished; its patina indicates this. The body, with beautiful geometric volumes, is carved quite simply. The profile is superb and dynamic. The white color is provided by the wood used as well as by the application of kaolin powder. The left shoulder was restored long ago. A beautiful old and authentic collectible piece. Circa 1960.
