AMC spray decoration in cherry red and dove blue • marked

Art Clock by AMC with hand-painted color decoration in cherry red and dove blue. Cherry-red berries and a flower, dove-blue leaves and half-circles softly extend over the white glaze and follow the relief of the cartouche around the dial. On a mantelpiece or sideboard, the clock adds a modernist Art Deco accent. For this object a Purchase Now price is also set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting. Description: A cloud-shaped, raised cartouche with a central brass bezel and a dial with Arabic numerals, on a rectangular base with two relief side panels. The decoration is on the front; back and sides are plain white under glossy glaze. On the back is the round brass plate of the mechanical clockwork. On the bottom are stamped: 'A.M.C. Made in Belgium', the number 195 and a red number 69. About the maker: AMC is the brand name of Auguste Mouzin et Cie, a earthenware factory in Wasmuël, in the Borinage. Isidore Paulus started it in 1836; Auguste Mouzin took over in 1878. The factory made clocks and vases in Art Deco forms, numbered per model. The Clockarium in Brussels shows model 195 in another decor, as a pair with two vases. In 1952 liquidation followed. In interior design: Fits an Art Deco, retro or modern interior, on a mantelpiece, sideboard or bookshelf. The cherry red provides a warm accent against white or dark walls. Condition: Good. Front: here and there minor damage to the sprayed decoration, no flaking at the edges. Dial: stained. On the right of the bezel: a fine line and a discolored spot in the glaze. The soft gradient of the decor is production-related. The mechanical clockwork does not run. See the images. Offered as a decorative object, technically works not at present. In one glance: Material: earthenware with white glaze and sprayed decoration Dimensions and weight: h 25 x w 34 x d 6 cm, 1975 grams Brand: stamp 'A.M.C. Made in Belgium', numbers 195 and 69, underside Dating: circa 1930–1940 Provenance: from a private collection, Belgium Description and sources: AMC, Wasmuël. Marked: the stamp names the factory. The number 195 is the model number of this clock in the Clockarium Brussels catalogue. The factory history follows the French Wikipedia, entry Faïencerie de Wasmuël. The dating is indicative. Shipping: Professionally packed in a sturdy box with cushioning material, for fragile objects a double box. Always insured, shipped with Track and Trace. See the feedback from previous buyers.
