An Embroidered Silk Panel Depicting Ladies Celebrating Longevity

An Embroidered Silk Panel Depicting Ladies Celebrating Longevity Qing Dynasty, 18th–19th Century Finely embroidered on a blue silk ground, this elegant hanging panel depicts five ladies in a garden setting, celebrating longevity. The figures are variously shown holding a wine ewer, fruits, and objects associated with the scholarly arts, surrounded by finely rendered rockwork, flowering plants, and foliage. The composition is richly embroidered in vibrant polychrome threads against the blue ground, with delicate details and graceful figures creating an auspicious and harmonious atmosphere. The subject, featuring ladies bearing wine and auspicious offerings, conveys wishes for longevity and prosperity. The embroidery is finely executed, with subtle variation in stitchwork and color lending depth and texture to the composition. The panel retains its original character, with minor water staining to the embroidered surface commensurate with age. Overall condition is very good.
