AN ITALIAN ROSSO VERONA MARBLE AND WROUGHT IRON WELL HEAD IN VENETO-BYZANTINE STYLE, CIRCA 1930 242cm high including the iron overthrow, the wellhead 92cm square, the aperture 60cm diameter Provenance: A Private Villa, Lake Como Copies of images showing the well head in situ near the shores of Lake Como are available with this lot Please note this lot will be on view at Donnington Priory and not at Benham Park. Condition Report: With weathering, wear, marks, knocks and scratches as per age, handling, use, and cleaning. The well with characteristic groove marks to inner edge from use, surface wear and small depressions to top corners from use as standing for pitchers, buckets etc. Other knocks and wear around the top from use. Overthrow- Some losses, paint wear, rusting and with vacant screw hole mounts to bases which do not have corresponding holes to stone base- suggesting it may be a replacement- albeit some time ago. The base with weathering, colour variances and losses along foot edges. Please see additional images for visual references (including UV) to condition which form part of this condition report.
