An Officer’s Whistle, Guard and Chains, with a silver Irish Badge. A very good silver example early pattern whistle, the case with oak leaf decoration, both with hallmarks for Birmingham 1867 and maker’s marks ‘J & Co’, with two strand silver (unmarked and untested) chains, a standard pattern silver (untested) lion’s mask upon a circular background guard, with a broad clip fixing upon the reverse; with a large fine quality white silver (untested) Badge bearing a fifteen stringed fretted Harp and the Maid of Erin, possibly for wear upon a Shoulder Belt, the reverse with a damaged brooch fitting, lacking most of its pin fitting, otherwise very good condition (2) £240-£280.
