Ancestral couple, Lobi, Burkina Faso, 19th-20th centuries

Descriptio Copper alloy. Dimensions: 29 cm high. This set comprises two human figures conceived as an ancestral couple, crafted from copper alloy and rendered with a marked formal simplification. The figures are frontal and stylized, with compact volumes and schematic anatomical features, linked to the Lobi sculptural and ritual tradition. The surface retains a dark patina with greenish and earthy tones, as well as oxidations and irregularities characteristic of the metal alloy and the passage of time.
