Chinese Horse and Rider – Tang Dynasty An elegant Chinese ceramic figure of a horse and rider, most likely from the Tang dynasty (618–907). The powerful horse and dynamic rider are finely modelled, with traces of polychrome decoration. Horses held an important role in Tang society and were often placed in tombs as symbols of status and prestige.
