Fragment of cartonnage from a mummy showing one of the four canopic gods (Hapy, Qebehsenuef, Imseti or Douatmoutef). Sometimes, the children of Horus were depicted with heads that could identify them: a human head for Imsety, a baboon head for Hapy, a jackal head for Douamoutef, and a falcon head for Qebehsenuef. But sometimes all four were represented with a human head. It is therefore impossible to know with certainty which god is depicted on this fragment of cartonnage. This fragment of mummy cartonnage consists of a linen fabric covered with stucco and then painted. The pigments are very well preserved; the pink color is particularly rare in Egyptian cartonnages. Late period, 16th–21st Dynasty, 664–332 BCE. Mounted on a black support. Dimensions: 18.2 cm x 15.6 cm – (support dimensions: 21.5 cm x 19.5 cm). Provenance: Belgium, D.V.C. Study. The seller can prove that the lot was legally obtained; provenance declaration seen by Catawiki. Important information: The seller guarantees that they are authorized to sell/export this lot. The seller will ensure that the necessary authorizations, such as an export license, are arranged. (Passport for a cultural object) The seller will inform the buyer of their status if this takes more than a few days. All items from the seller are shipped with insurance up to the purchase price and are accompanied by an illustrated descriptive document detailing provenance.
