Egyptian Gilded Cartonnage Funerary Mask – Ptolemaic–Roman Period (332 BC – 1st Century AD) An elegant Egyptian funerary mask dating to the Ptolemaic–Roman period (332 BC–1st century AD). Crafted in stuccoed and polychromed cartonnage, the mask features a finely gilded face with almond-shaped eyes outlined in black. The deceased wears a tripartite wig surmounted by a diadem decorated with the Eye of Horus, a powerful symbol of divine protection and rebirth in ancient Egyptian funerary belief. The mask is mounted on a custom display stand and remains an impressive example of late Egyptian funerary art. It displays age-related cracks, minor paint losses, and small areas of professional retouching.
