Encapsulated silver-metal pendant, for better preservation, with Apamea bronze from Phrygia minted between 88-40 B.C. A series famous for the portrayal of the satyr Marsyas, a figure deeply rooted in the region's mythology. Apamea was an important commercial center located at the source of the Marsyas River. It is linked to a modern 925 silver cord-type chain. Obverse; bust of Artemis-Tyche with a turret to the right, with an arch and quiver over the shoulder. Reverse; Marsyas advancing to the right, playing the aulos. According to legend, the musical contest between Marsyas and Apollo took place near Apamea. This coin represents the cultural identity and civic pride of one of the most prosperous cities of Hellenistic Asia Minor. It is sent with a legal declarations sheet. Customs costs outside the EU will be borne by the winning bidder.
