Ancient Pre-Classic Tlatilco Pottery Standing Female Figure

Pre-Columbian, Central Mexico, Tlatilco. A hand-modeled pottery figure of a standing woman on a wood display stand. Her head rises into a tall turban of stacked coiled bands above a wedge-shaped face with sharply angled applied brows, narrow slit eyes, a pinched nose, and parted lips. Short outstretched arms flank small rounded breasts and a modeled navel, and a broad flared skirt at the waist sits above short legs. Faint black and red pigment remain on the face and torso.
