Roman bronze discoid fibula with concentric decoration – 2nd–3rd centuries A.D. Culture: Roman. Period: Roman Empire, 2nd–3rd centuries A.D. Material: Bronze. Description for auction: Elegant Roman discoid fibula made of bronze, belonging to the tradition of small personal adornments used during the Roman Empire to fasten cloaks and other garments. Features a striking circular design, topped by a small central raised knop, surrounded by a clearly defined concentric ring. The outer area incorporates various radially arranged geometric fields recessed into the surface, providing balance and ornamental richness to the composition. This type of fibulae represents an interesting manifestation of Roman metalwork, in which artisans combined functionality and decoration through very elegant geometric forms. The piece retains a beautiful archaeological green patina, with turquoise, ochre tones and mineral deposits that accentuate the reliefs and add notable aesthetic appeal. Condition: Good preservation of the ornamental disk, with visible concentric decoration, surface wear and an attractive ancient patina.
