Roman bronze discoidal brooch with concentric decoration – 2nd–3rd centuries AD. Culture: Roman. Era: Roman Empire, 2nd–3rd centuries AD. Material: Bronze. Measurements: 21 mm in diameter × 2 mm thick. Description for auction: Elegant Roman bronze discoidal brooch, belonging to the tradition of small personal ornaments used during the Roman Empire to fasten cloaks and other garments. Features a striking circular design, headed by a small central relief button, surrounded by a well-defined concentric ring. The outer zone incorporates various radially arranged geometric fields, recessed, that provide balance and ornamental richness to the composition. This type of fibulae constitutes an interesting manifestation of Roman metalwork, in which artisans combined functionality and decoration through elegant geometric forms. The piece preserves a beautiful archaeological green patina, with turquoise tones, ochres and mineral deposits that accentuate the reliefs and add notable aesthetic appeal. Conservation status: Good preservation of the ornamental disk, with visible concentric decoration, surface wear and attractive ancient patina.
