Ancient Roman

Bronze Aucissa-type Roman fibula (brooch) from the 1st century AD. Era: Roman Empire, 1st century AD (typological attribution). Material: Bronze with archaeological patina. Measurements: 19 × 52 × 33 mm. Elegant bronze Roman fibula, attributable to the typological Aucissa family, characterized by its pronounced semicircular arch, its carefully carved longitudinal ridges, and its attractive decorative design. It features a curved body with raised longitudinal ribbing, delicate transverse mouldings at the top, and a globular termination at the opposite end. It retains the pin and the hinge mechanism. It stands out especially for its magnificent sculptural presence and its attractive archaeological patina, with olive-green, dark brown and earthy golden hues that enhance the ornamentation details. Fibulae were essential elements of Roman attire, used to fasten cloaks and other garments, combining practicality with personal ornament. Condition: Good visually for its typology and age, with wear, earthy deposits and surface concretions. It preserves its main structural elements. An attractive piece of Roman archaeology, representative of the small personal adornment objects from the early Imperial period.
