Beautiful Ancient Roman Miniature Bronze Bell Pendant – Tintinnabulum – Superb Reddish-Brown Patina – ca. 1st–4th Century AD Object Type: Miniature Bell Pendant / Tintinnabulum Culture: Ancient Roman Date: ca. 1st–4th Century AD Material: Bronze Dimensions Height: 9.25 mm ± Width: 10.14 mm ± Weight: 0.71 g ± Description An exceptionally charming miniature Roman-style bronze bell pendant, distinguished by its remarkably small dimensions, beautifully preserved domed silhouette and magnificent reddish-brown patina. The piece features a compact, gently expanding bell-shaped body surmounted by a substantial integrated suspension loop. Despite its miniature proportions, the pendant retains a well-defined sculptural form, with a gracefully rounded profile and an attractive archaeological surface. Known in Roman antiquity as tintinnabula, small bronze bells formed part of everyday material culture and personal ornamentation. They were also incorporated into protective objects, where their ringing was traditionally associated with the symbolic rejection of harmful influences. The use of bells as protective ornaments reflects the Roman concept of apotropaic symbolism, in which certain sounds and objects were believed to provide protection and attract good fortune. -All items are shipped fully insured.
