Ancient Roman Bronze Ring with Geometric and Radiating...

Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid. Ancient Roman bronze ring with an oval bezel engraved with a symmetrical geometric motif. The bezel is framed by short radiating incised lines along the border. The shoulders taper gently and are decorated with a linear design. Plain ring band. -> Geometric motifs of this type were widely used Roman jewellery. The symmetrical four-part design may symbolically refer to balance or the four directions. The small punched dots within each section can be interpreted as stylised seeds or life symbols, while the short radiating lines along the bezel edge resemble a solar border, possibly alluding to protection, vitality, or life-giving forces. Such abstract engravings likely served both decorative and symbolic purposes. Outside diameter: ± 22 mm Inside diameter: ± 18,5 - 18,9 mm Bezel: ± 10,2 mm Condition: good solid condition, wearable. Signs of patina and surface wear consistent with age and use. Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) is available upon request for all lots with a hammer price of €100 or higher.
