Ancient Roman Bronze Signet Ring with Griffin Motif (No reserve price)

Late Roman bronze signet ring with griffin motif This bronze ring bears a powerful symbol: the griffin, uniting the strength of a lion with the head and wings of an eagle. A mythical guardian that evokes protection, vigilance, and authority. The motif presents us with a Roman owner who wished to wear these qualities on his hand. His identity remains unknown, but his ring still speaks to the imagination. The griffin later also found a place in Christian art and church decoration, where its dual form is linked to the human and divine nature of Christ. An ancient motif with a rich history of meanings.
