Small lavender-brown colored blown glass vase with a pear-shaped body. The flattened base, with a slightly retreating bottom, retains the visible pontil mark. The inclined shoulder joins a very short neck flaring to a broad mouth with a rounded lip. The upper part of the neck is marked by an irregular fold of glass forming an outer rim. Remnants of argentiferous iridescence, a dark crust of alteration in places and some earthy deposits. Note the presence of a small projection on the upper part of the body, resulting from a trapped air bubble in the glass, as well as a slight depression probably related to handling of the piece before complete cooling. - Roman Empire, Syro-Palestinian production - Dimensions: 78 x 73 x 73 mm - Dating: 3rd–4th century AD - Provenance: Former Belgian private collection, acquired from Galerie Dominique Thirion in 2019. - Literature: - Yael Israeli, Ancient Glass in the Israel Museum.
