Here is a precious ribbed Roman glass goblet in a narrow body. A shallow molded glass vessel with a concave bottom and a rim adorned with fine grooves, capped at the lip, the edge ending with a slight flare. This central omphalos bowl probably formed part of a table service. Transparent glass covered with a pearly iridescent layer that has crusted in places. Beautiful iridescence, very good state of preservation. Glass was precious in Roman times, used mainly for perfumes, decorative trim. The nobles used it as tableware for the consumption of food. The bowl is covered with an iridescent layer with multicolored reflections, formed by the oxidation of the glass. Mediterranean Basin, Roman Era, 1st/2nd century. Diameter 13.6 cm - height 5.2 cm - Very well-preserved piece, marked by a few non-fragile, likely original cracks, creating differences in iridescence. This bowl has undergone no restoration.
