Pendant in silver-plated metal encapsulated, for better preservation, with nummus AE3 of Emperor Constantius II, son of Constantine I the Great. Mint Constantinople and circa 348-361 AD. It is linked in a modern chain-type necklace in 925 silver. Obverse; bust of the Emperor with pearl diadem, draped cloak and cuirass. Inscription "Our Lord Constantius, pious, fortunate and august". Reverse; Roman soldier with helmet holding a shield in one hand and thrusting a spear or javelin with the other at a rider enemy falling from his horse. Inscription "FEL TEMP REPARATIO" - The restoration of the happy times-. It was a key piece of imperial propaganda to display the power and victory of the Roman army against external threats. It is shipped with a legal declaration form. Customs costs outside the EU will be borne by the auction winner.
