LARGE ROMAN GLASS BOTTLE Blown-moulded glass bottle dating from the Roman period. Flat base, cylindrical body, short straight neck topped by a wide flat lip, double. The bottle shows iridescent patches in places with multicolored reflections. The bottle was blown in a mold (a technique generally used for more complex pieces), hence the absence of a pontil. Dating: 1st - 3rd centuries CE, Dimensions: height 14.3 cm - diameter 6.4 cm Very good overall condition - minor cracks consolidated Provenance: Dutch private collection, assembled between 1970 and 1974 by a collector working for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and stationed in North Africa. Glass was precious in Roman times, used mainly for perfumes and for adornment. The vase is covered with an iridescent layer formed by the oxidation of the glass over the centuries, attesting to its antiquity.. The seller can prove that the lot was legally obtained, provenance declaration seen by Catawiki. Important information: The seller warrants that they are authorized to sell/export this lot. The seller will ensure that the necessary permissions, such as an export license, are arranged. (Cultural Object Passport) The seller will inform the buyer of their status if this takes more than a few days. All seller’s items are shipped with insurance equal to the purchase price and accompanied by an illustrated descriptive document mentioning provenance.
