Large Roman Terra Sigillata bottle with figurative and floral relief from North Africa – about the 2nd century AD. Description For sale is an exceptional Roman ceramic bottle made of Terra Sigillata, dating to approximately the 2nd century AD. The vessel has a characteristic, nearly globular body with a long conical neck and a pronounced rim. Especially impressive are the side handles as well as the elaborately designed decoration of the vessel body. All around the body there are three-dimensional relief decorations with leaf motifs and a human figure. The reliefs and the strongly oxidized, reddish-orange surface give the piece a particularly attractive antique appearance. The signs of wear, surface deposits and abrasions emphasize the historical character of the vessel. Dimensions: * Height: approx. 20 cm * Material: ceramic / Terra Sigillata * Color: reddish-orange * Condition: good with a chip at the foot and a coating of clear varnish to stabilize * Dating: approx. 2nd century AD Condition The vessel is in an age-appropriate condition with clear signs of use and surface wear. The surface shows numerous abrasion and deposition marks. A part at the bottom is slightly chipped. The vessel still stands independently and stably. Coating with clear varnish. Please note the photos, which are part of the description and show the current condition of the object. An exceptional decorative ceramic vessel with figurative and floral relief, which, through its shape, size and patina, makes a striking impression.
