Andy Warhol (1928-1987) (after) - Cow (Kuh)

Andy Warhol (1928–1987) Cow (Yellow Cow on Blue Background), after 1971 Colored fine art print after the famous “Cow” motif by Andy Warhol, issued by teNeues Verlag, Kempen, Germany, and printed in Germany. The motif of the “Cow” belongs to the best-known image creations of Andy Warhol and originally emerged in 1966 in the context of the legendary cow wallpaper for the Leo Castelli Gallery. The distinctive depiction of the cow’s head in bright colors became an iconic example of Warhol’s serial and graphic visual language. The present edition shows the characteristic yellow cow against an intensely blue background. The strong color contrast and the large-format portrayal give the motif its unmistakable Pop Art impact. This sheet is a later reproduction published by teNeues after Andy Warhol, not the original color silkscreen print from 1971. TeNeues held licenses for Warhol reproductions and published numerous of his well-known motifs as high-quality art prints.
