Ann Abeille (XX) - Scène de marché oriental

Ann ABEILLE (20th century) - Referenced painter. "Eastern Market Scene" - Original oil on canvas. A beautiful and luminous composition by the travelling artist-painter Ann Abeille, depicting a veiled market woman seated behind her colorful stall at the market. The work stands out for its generous materialist treatment, with beautiful impasto effects with a knife or brush that give remarkable relief to the spice pyramids (ochre, red and violet pigments) arranged in the foreground. The artist deploys a modern figurative style and a particularly warm chromatic palette. The vivid contrasts between the bright colors of the stalls and the sobriety of the back wall beautifully highlight the central figure, wearing her traditional saffron-yellow veil. The work is signed very legibly "Ann Abeille" at the bottom right. It is ideally enhanced by a classic-era gilded wooden frame with a black mat, which perfectly underscores the painting’s luminous intensity and contrasts.
