Title: The Damsel ㅤ School: European School (20th century) ㅤ Author: Anna de Banguy ㅤ Style: Figurative expressionist ㅤ Technique: Oil on panel ㅤ Status: Overall good state of conservation. It presents restorations and signs of age in keeping with its era. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The work is framed within European figurative painting of the 20th century, with a strong leaning toward a feminine portrait of an idealized nature. The delicacy of the features contrasts with a much freer and material treatment of the hat and the background, where brushwork takes center stage. This combination brings the composition closer to figurative tendencies of expressist and post-impressionist roots, in which recognizable representation coexists with an autonomous and expressive use of color and painting material. ㅤ Anna de Banguy was a French painter of the 20th century linked to the figurative tradition. Her painting shows interest in the representation of the human figure and especially in portraiture, adopting a delicate and idealized aesthetic combined with a freer, more pâte-like brushwork in certain areas of her compositions. ㅤ The work presents the portrait of a young woman depicted bust-length, with the face slightly inclined and a serene gaze directed at the viewer. Her large eyes, soft features, and contained expression give the figure an elegant, introspective, and slightly melancholic character. ㅤ Especially notable is the elaborately crafted hat crowning the composition, built with abundant impastos and overlapping brushstrokes in whites, blues, pinks, yellows and earth tones. This material treatment contrasts with the more delicate and uniform execution of the face. The hair, arranged in long wavy strands of golden and chestnut hues, frames the features and reinforces the romantic character of the representation. The background is resolved with free brushstrokes in light, blue and earthy tones, visually integrating with the hat and clothing. ㅤ The work is presented with a wide carved gilded wooden frame. Its stepped structure and white inner crossbar create depth around the painting and emphasize its decorative character. The frame shows wear and signs of age compatible with the passage of time. ㅤ Observations: The work presents restorations. ㅤ The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority. ㅤ Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by an additional charge for reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excess dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will never cover this surcharge. ㅤ The courier that must cross the Swiss border may experience much longer delays than normal, so, if possible, to speed up processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the customer can unlock it and thus it can reach its destination. Experience has taught us that this is the most effective solution for both parties. ㅤ Due to the high volume of shipments, it is possible that the order may be delayed more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging. ㅤ Dimensions: 28 × 22 cm Dimensions with frame: 44 × 40 cm
